The Tennessee State Soil Conservation Committee provides direction and oversight for the promotion and implementation of soil conservation practices through local soil conservation districts across the state. It keeps boards of those districts properly constituted through appointments and elections of its members. The Committee provides support and input from the Water Resources Program of the Department of Agriculture, approves new watershed districts and agricultural districts as needed. The current SSCC is comprised of the following members: Cindy Anderson, SCD supervisor at-large.
Term ends Members are appointed by the Governor for three year terms. The SSCC meets four times a year, three in conjunction with major agricultural events: 1. The TN Farm Bureau Federation Convention in early December, 2. The TN Assoc. of Conservation Districts Convention in late February, 3. The UT 4. Ellington Agricultural Center in March. The SSCC meets under the provisions of P.C. 442 (the “Sunshine” Law) and meetings are open to the public.
