TDA Watershed Initiative

Scenic shot of sevenmile creek.Watersheds are the lifeblood of our living planet.  The Tennessee Department of Agriculture is addressing the challenge of watershed degradation through practical applications and public outreach.

Cutting edge, low impact management practices are being implemented throughout the Department's Ellington Campus.  The diverse topography of the Ellington Campus along with its extensive riparian zone make it ideally suited for a variety of projects.  As a responsible steward of an important water feature, the Department is restoring and protecting the quality of Seven Mile Creek, improving our community, setting the proper tone for our outreach and providing staff with an accessible, long-term living laboratory.

Clean water is everyone's right and responsibility.  We all depend on this vital resource and we all have a vested interest in protecting it.  The Department seeks to equip people and communities with the methods to enhance and protect their watersheds.

Note:  A preliminary trail map and landscape plan are available for download.  They require the free Acrobat Reader be installed.
