Recreational & Educational Features

Water is the sculptor that shaped our land.  It is the source of life for native plants and wildlife.  It is the hidden treasure of our urban landscape.  Long hidden from the public by bridges, fences and conduits, Seven Mile Creek, the major aquifer of the Brentwood area, is now becoming accessible as the central feature of the Ellington WaterWalk and Metro Parks’ Seven Mile Creek Greenway Trail.

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Water Resources Section, has developed a number of working demonstration projects to highlight environmentally responsible landscaping that minimizes nonpoint source pollution and erosion while maximizing green space both as an aesthetic resource and as a haven for wildlife and native plants.

Easy to use interpretive signs and surfaced trails make this system friendly for those who come to learn, to experience nature, or just to relax.
