Tennessee alleged that Psychic Friends, an “infomercial” company which purported to provide psychic services, violated consumer protection statutes by allegedly unnecessarily elongating pay-by-the-minute phone calls, by charging for unrequested services, and by disconnecting calls without warning or cause. As the result of the settlement, Inphomation was required to clearly and conspicuously disclose the terms and conditions of its services and to amend its business practices to abide by the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act. Under the Assurance, Inphomation was further required to pay the State of Tennessee the sum of $4,000 and to provide restitution to consumers.
