Atmos Energy Corporation Rate Review, #05-00258

Atmos Energy Corporation is engaged in the business of transporting, distributing and selling natural gas in several Tennessee counties and is regulated by the Tennessee Regulatory Authority (TRA).

On September 16, 2005, the Consumer Advocate petitioned the TRA to review the company’s earnings (which had not been reviewed for ten years) and to set just and reasonable rates. In response, the company sought a rate increase.

The TRA reduced the rates the company charged its customers by $6 million, saving Atmos customers $9.6 million annually over the rate increase sought by the company.
