Mr. Woodlee is a native of Van Buren County, Spencer, Tennessee. He attended high school at Irving College and attended Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee. After college, he joined the Army, serving in 101st Airborne in Vietnam where he was injured in 1969. Mr. Woodlee worked with Employment Security for the past twenty-five years and with Department of Labor and Workforce Development for two years. His past experiences as a veteran’s representative, and being a disabled veteran, give him a broad knowledge of the needs and problems of the aging and disabled community. He has served as a member of veteran’s organizations at the local, district, and state levels. He has been proactive in his community, including participating in civic and community groups to assess resources for rural Van Buren county. Mr. Woodlee has served as president of the Van Buren County Chamber of Commerce. He has served as Chairman of the Van Buren County Partnership Group and on the Area 7 Workforce Investment Act Board, representing the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Mr. Woodlee has also been the Chairman of the Van Buren County Industrial Board and a member of the Regional Advisory Council for the Upper Cumberland Area Agency on Aging and Disability. Mr. Woodlee has conducted numerous training sessions as a part of his staff position with the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. He has participated in the negotiation of agreements and is familiar with all labor laws regarding disability, minority, and age, and has provided technical assistance and monitored programs for the past 25 years. As a staff member for the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, he has served 28 counties. As an advocate for the local community, he initiated a partnership group in Van Buren county for the purpose of addressing the needs of the sparsely populated rural area.
