The Tennessee, Commission on Aging and Disability has been awarded two grants under the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. These grants are:

Congregate Nutritional Services

The goal is to provide to eligible persons (age 60+), at nutritional meal sites, senior centers or other congregate settings, meals that comply with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and provide one-third the Recommended Dietary Intake (DRI). The objective is to outreach to low income elderly persons and facilitate their participation in congregate meal programs.

Home-Delivered Nutrition Services

The goal is to provide to eligible persons (age 60+ and their caregivers) at the clients' place of residence, meals that comply with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and provide one-third the Recommended Daily Intake (RDI). The objective is, in each of the nine districts across the state, to take eligible persons from the current waiting lists for meals and provide them with nutritional home-delivered meals at least five days per week.
