Meals Served in Group Settings:  Congregate meals are provided in 217 nutrition centers  across the state in facilities, such as, senior citizen centers, schools, churches, community centers, and other facilities. The nutrition centers in each county provide, in addition to a meal, opportunities for socialization, and participation in program activities. Services that are planned at nutrition centers include meals, nutrition and health promotion education, recreational activities, shopping assistance, transportation, counseling, information and assistance, health screening and many other innovative activities. The centers operate Monday through Friday except for holidays.

Home Delivered Meals:  One meal a day is delivered to the consumer’s home. The meal delivery person provides social contact and a vital safety  check on the welfare of the consumer,  reporting any health or other problems that are noted during their visits. There are over 560 meal delivery routes serving Tennesseans.

Congregate and home-delivered meals   are nutritionally balanced, and contain at least one-third of the current  recommended dietary allowances as established by the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Research Council, National Academy of Science.

Eligible consumers participating in either the congregate or home-delivered meal programs are given the opportunity to make  voluntary contributions towards the cost of the meal.
