6TH ANNUAL FIRE EXPLORER WEEKEND - April 4-6, 2008

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION - MARCH 21, 2008!

WHAT IS THE STATE FIRE AND EMS EXPLORING WEEKEND?

The State Fire and EMS Weekend (April 4 – 6, 2008) is an opportunity for all registered Fire and EMS Explorers, ages 14- 20, to train at the state’s premier firefighter
educational facility – the Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy in Bell Buckle, TN. At the weekend long event, Explorers will be exposed to the latest in training technology, state of the art equipment and a full spectrum of educational courses.
The weekend will culminate on Sunday with a team competition. Teams will be competing in the areas that are covered in the series of classes on Saturday. A list of rules and guidelines will be provided to each team on Saturday. Top finishing teams will be awarded trophies.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The cost for the entire weekend is $95 per Advisor/Explorer. This includes Friday and Saturday nights lodging, three meals on Saturday, one meal on Sunday and registration. New this year… Saturday only registration for $40 per person. This includes all four classes, lunch, dinner and live burn Saturday Evening. Or you can come for the competition on Sunday only for $30 per person. This includes registration, breakfast, and competition. NOTE: Dinner will not be provided on Friday night. Please eat dinner before you arrive at the Academy.


WHAT SHOULD WE BRING?
Explorers should bring proper clothing for classes on Saturday and the competition on
Sunday. Saturday dress is casual (ex. jeans, sweat shirt, t-shirt). Sunday will be
competition day and teams will be required to wear turnout clothing. Additionally, all Explorers should bring their own turnout clothing. Limited turn-out gear may be available on a need by need basis.

LODGING
All participants will stay at the Academy’s 104-room single occupancy dorm. Sheets,
blankets, pillows and towels will be provided. Participants should bring their own toiletries
(shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc). Please make plans to arrive between 6-7 PM in order to get room assignments. 2007 competition winners will be lodged in the Fire Hall.

Friday Evening- 9-11pm - Advisor vs Explorer competition. - Who do you think will take the crown?
Saturday Classes– Lead by Sparta Fire Department
Sunday Competition– Lead by Morristown Fire Department
Details of Sat. and Sun. events will be mailed to advisor once registration is received.
