Course Description |
The course meets the training requirements of NFPA 1670 and is designed for the emergency responder
who may be called upon to locate, gain access to, stabilize and remove victims in an elevated environment
using ropes and rigging methods. Students receive instruction in selection, construction and use of ropebased
mechanical advantage systems, the use and maintenance of rope rescue equipment and rope rescue
systems, selection, construction and use of appropriate belay systems. Topics also include selection,
construction and use of lowering systems, construction and use of multi-point anchor systems, and patient
packaging techniques for safe transfer. Students participate in rope rescue operations based on real
scenarios, and are required to demonstrate competency individually and as members of a response team. |
