| Course Description |
This two-week program provides basic orientation and training for industrial fire brigades that have
interior structural fire and exterior flammable liquid and gas fire emergency response requirements at their
facility. Students participate in classroom instruction and practical skills training, including “live” fire
scenarios. This course is for all industrial personnel working in management, fire protection, security, or
production who operate as members of an industrial fire brigade. The course consists of classroom
instruction, demonstrations, and practical field exercises and meets OSHA requirements for interior
structural fire brigade initial and annual hands-on training. Subjects covered in the classroom and through
demonstrations include: fire behavior, Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), fire apparatus, foam,
interior structural fire fighting, safety, and fire fighter’s personal protective equipment. The field
evolutions include: portable extinguishers, multi-structure fires, vehicle fire, split flange and
20’ X 20’ pit fire, horizontal LPG tank fire, ladders, and foam operations. This course meets
OSHA requirements for interior structural fire fighting annual hands-on training OSHA
1910.134 and NFPA Standard 600, Industrial Fire Brigade. |

Special Notice |
Students are required to provide their own full protective clothing according to NFPA and OSHA standards. Long-sleeve shirts and long pants are to be worn under the protective clothing at all times. TFACA has protective clothing & Self Containing Breathing Apparatus available for use during class for a fee. Students must be physically fit to perform fire fighting skills. Students shall be currently fit
tested and shall meet or exceed the 2002 edition of NFPA Fire Department Occupational Safety And Health Program Standard # 1500 sec. 7.11 and the regulations of the Tennessee Occupational Safety & Health Administration (TOSHA) “Respiratory Protection Fit Testing” , CFR 1910.134 (f). The student shall be clean shaven in compliance with applicable standards so the student is capable of wearing
self-contained breathing apparatus. |
