Lois M. DeBerry Special Needs
Facility opened in June of 1992, and is equipped to house up to 800
inmates. Of those beds, 268 are assigned
to the Medical Unit, 376 are assigned to the Mental Health Unit and 156 are
assigned to inmate workers who provide institutional support services.
The Lois M. DeBerry Special Needs Facility will provide quality health care and intensive mental health and sex offender treatment programming in a setting that:
Ensures a safe and desirable
environment for staff / inmates who participate in our programs and services
Addresses the physical & mental
health needs of inmates in a humane manner
Meets or exceeds the standards
established in the community for quality care
Mental Health Services
The mental health units are supervised by the Director of Mental Health and are managed under a modified unit management concept, including mental health nursing care. The staffing of the mental health units is centered in the mission of each unit and includes an array of qualified mental health and health care professionals. Mental health units are comprised of the following:
Sex Offender Treatment Programs
Sex Offender Rehabilitative Program
Acute, Intensive and Intermediate
Units
Basic Skills Units
Each unit is overseen by the Unit Director. Units are staffed with nursing personnel who report to the Mental Health Director of Nursing. All unit security staff report to the Unit Director.
