Morgan County Correctional
Complex (MCCX) first opened in September 1980. A major expansion
of the complex is under way with completion slated for January,
2009. Upon completion, the facility will house 2,441
inmates. This will result in a 3.6 million dollar savings to the
state once inmates are transferred from the Brushy Mountain
Correctional Complex.
Several employment
opportunities are available at the Morgan County Correctional
Complex. These positions include vocational instructors,
academic teachers, counselors, nursing staff, correctional officers,
unit manager and food service staff.
"The Impact of Crime on
Victims" program has graduated more than 200 inmates. The
program was made possible in part through a grant from the National
Institute of Corrections.
MCCX also boasts an 81.4% pass
rate on GED testing for inmates.
Substance abuse treatment is
offered as a full-time modified therapeutic community
assignment. Class duration is six months and accommodates
approximately 100 individuals per year.
Community Service crews from MCCX provide thousands of
hours of labor to local government and non-profit organizations each
year.
