MEDIA ADVISORY: GARDEN DEDICATION AT
TENNESSEE PRISON FOR WOMEN (TPW)
| What: |
Better Decisions, a Nashville nonprofit,
celebrates its 20th anniversary serving female inmates at TPW
with garden dedication.
The garden dedication will honor the 1,000-plus inmates who
have graduated from the 8-week course taught semiannually by Better
Decisions volunteers since 1985.
- Since 1985, over 750 women from the Nashville area have
worked one-on-one with inmates at TPW. Better
Decisions volunteers donate up to 4,000 hours
annually.
- The garden encompasses a 20' by 20' square foot area on
the Main compound of the prison. The trees, flowers,
and memorial plaque donated by Better Decisions
volunteers and other supporters include a cherry tree and
over fifteen different perennials and annuals.

In order to clear checkpoint at TPW as expeditiously as
possible, please confirm your desired attendance with Amanda
Sluss, TDOC Communications Officer. A list of expected
reporters and the anticipated type of equipment (i.e. camera,
tripod, etc.) must be authorized and sent to the prison in
advance of the noon event.
