INMATE WALKS AWAY FROM WORK RELEASE JOB SITE

Nashville, Tenn. - Internal Affairs agents with the Tennessee Department of Correction and local authorities are looking for an inmate who walked away from a work release site last night.  Michael Shane Vaulton, a minimum trustee, was granted parole in September, 2004.  He is currently assigned to the Tennessee Bridges Program at the Charles B. Bass Correctional Complex in Nashville.

Vaulton walked away from his assigned work release job at Wholesale Exchange on 1411 Elm Hill Pike Thursday evening, and was reported missing at approximately 7 p.m. CDT.

Vaulton was serving an eight-year sentence out of Knox County for burglary and theft of property.  On September 28, 2004, he was granted parole and placed in the Tennessee Bridges pre-release program.  Pending his successful completion of the program, he would have been paroled to the community.

Vaulton is a 32-year-old white male with blue eyes, brown hair and a medium complexion.  He is 6'1" tall and weighs approximately 230 lbs.  He has several skull tattoos on his left arm, two cartoon character tattoos on his right arm and a large animal-like figure tattoo on the right side of his neck.
