STATEMENT FROM ACTING CORRECTION COMMISSIONER GAYLE RAY

I appreciate the confidence Governor Bredesen has shown in me by appointing me to serve as acting commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Correction.

In this role, I intend to work hard with the dedicated employees of this department to continue carrying out the vision and responsibilities that we each bear to ensure the public safety of Tennesseans.

I want to emphasize how impressed I have been during my time serving in the department by the dedication and professionalism of the employees I work with.  I know I can count on their support in the coming weeks as we work together during this transition.
