MEDIA WITNESS DRAWING CANCELLED

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Department of Correction received a clarification order from the United States District Court (Eastern District of Tennessee at Chattanooga) Friday morning stating that "Gregory Thompson's stay of execution shall remain in effect until such time as the court lifts the stay.  The court does not anticipate receiving the final submissions from the petitioner prior to February 6, 2006."

The February 7, 2006 execution date will be stayed until further order from the court.

The previously announced news media witness selection process for the execution of Gregory Thompson has been cancelled.
