RIVERBEND INMATES HOST ASTHMA WALK
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -The first of its kind fundraiser to benefit the American Lung Association will be held this week at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution. Inmates from housing unit 6 have organized to host their own "Asthma Walk" to raise money for research and awareness.
So far, over 50 inmates have signed up to participate in a walk on the compound track on Friday, May 23rd. "When the inmates learned that a similar event was being held at the Nashville Zoo recently, they wanted to get involved in their own way," said Warden Ricky Bell. "So far they've donated over $150.00 to the cause."
A check from the inmates will be presented to the American Lung Association at the start of the event. The media is invited to attend.
