The Tennessee Department of Correction houses more
than 19,000 inmates at 16 facilities. To send mail to an inmate,
you will need to know the inmate's name, TOMIS ID number, and name and
address of the facility where the inmate is being housed.
To get this information, simply
follow the steps listed below:
Step 1
If you do not already know the inmate's TOMIS ID
number and/or the name of the facility, click on the "FOIL -
Inmate Search" link located above. You will need the inmate's name and
possibly a date of birth, if it is a common name.
Step 2
Once you have found the correct inmate, you will need
to write down the TOMIS ID number. Click on "location"
to get the name of the facility.

BMCX - Brushy Mountain Correctional Complex
MTCX - Middle Tennessee Correctional Complex
Step 3
Click on the "State
Prisons" link located on the left to find the address for the facility.
Step 4
Address the envelope with the inmate's name and
TOMIS identification number at the top.
