the Tennessee Department of Correction's memorial to fallen correctional employees. These guests, including family members and descendants of the fallen, current and former employees, and other dignitaries,
reflected on the importance of the Memorial's placement at the Academy.
Commissioner George M. Little said the following about the
memorial.
"The sacrifices made day to day by correctional professionals are
sometimes small and unnoticed but we should never forget those who have made the
greatest sacrifice."
The memorial was funded by private donations totaling over $32,000, from correctional professionals throughout Tennessee, to remember and honor all those who lost their lives in the line of duty and those who serve every day to keep faith with the citizens of the State, in performing that duty.
