Local Government Energy Loan Program

ECD offers low-interest loans to municipal and county governments to fund energy-related improvements to courthouses, administration buildings, schools, maintenance facilities and other buildings owned by local government. Even if a local government doesn’t apply for the loan program, the Energy Office will arrange for an energy audit to provide technical assistance to communities interested in lowering their energy costs. The loan maximum for each community is $500,000 annually, and interest rates are 0% for Three-Star certified communities and 3% for all others, with loans amortized over seven years.
