Tennessee Science and Technology Advisory Council
Tennessee's Science and Technology Advisory Council was established in May 1993. The purpose
of this Council is to advise state government on science and technology
matters of importance to the State of Tennessee, its citizens,
industries, and universities. The Council reports both
to the Governor's office and to the state legislature and can
be asked to study appropriate issues by either or both bodies.
The main liaison to the executive branch of the state government
is through the Office of Science and Technology of the Department of Economic and Community
Development. In the legislative branch, Speakers John S. Wilder
(Senate) and Jimmy Naifeh (House) are the main contacts, with
Senators Ben Atchley and Douglas Henry and Representative Matthew Kisber maintaining close relationships with the work of the Council.
