Technology Councils
In an effort to empower technology councils across the state to foster economic expansion in the technology sector, the ECD Technology Development Division is providing financial assistance to enable the councils to better implement the key components of their organization including:
- Growing their membership base
- Creating educational opportunities for members
- Stimulating collaboration between existing technology councils
- Expanding the reach of council to business leaders in neighboring counties
Technology-based economic development is driven by the expansion of both existing companies and new business ventures. Furthermore, collaboration among and between these two segments is a necessary component of a thriving technology sector in Tennessee. A need exists to increase the state’s focus on technology development, and a network of people with knowledge of technology is needed to promote a progressive agenda in all regions of Tennessee. The five established regional technology councils are well positioned to support ECD’s strategic plan, and ECD is partnering with the councils to leverage their activities to create new opportunities for a diverse customer base in all regions of the state.
