Parents and the Tennessee Diploma Project

Tennessee students returning to school this year face greater expectations than even last year's graduates faced. The Tennessee Diploma Project, a school reform initiative launched by Governor Phil Bredesen, takes effect this fall with new graduation requirements and more stringent standards for what students learn in school. The goal is for students to graduate with superior knowledge and skills allowing them a choice of continuing their education or securing a desirable job.
