Goals
of Marketing Education
Marketing education provides information, direction and training
for those students with an interest in marketing. Its objective is
to help students obtain the skills, attitudes and knowledge that will
enable them to be contributing members of society.
The broad objectives for students enrolled in marketing education are
to enable them to
- develop an understanding and appreciation of the social and economic
value of the production, distribution and consumption of goods and
services;
- make realistic career choices in marketing;
- attain their occupational objectives in marketing;
- increase their occupational efficiency through classroom instruction,
individual projects, on-the-job training, merchandising laboratory
experiences, internships and co-curricular student organization
activities;
- develop the desire to further their education in the field of
marketing;
- develop initiative and leadership; and
- recognize the ethical standards required of persons engaged in
marketing activities.
