Success Skills Through Service Learning
Service-learning is a form of experiential learning where students develop knowledge and critical thinking skills while addressing genuine community needs. Success Skills through Service Learning is a course designed to provide a comprehensive approach focusing on ethical, social and intellectual skill development. Teachers must take the state-offered Service Learning Training to teach this course.
Mastering the standards in this course will enable students to develop personal integrity based on positive values; to learn respect and responsibility; and to learn citizenship in schools, and community. The most effective way of learning these skills is in context, placing learning objectives within a real environment.
This training is offered to teachers who want to use the Service Learning teaching methodology in their classes. It also certifies a teacher to oversee the Service Learning course (6104) for credit.
Register here for one of the following training dates. Registration closes two weeks prior to the training, or when the session has been filled. Priority is given to teachers who have never earned the certificate and need it to offer the course for credit.
