Operation
Advisory committees are unique in their ability to provide occupational
information and help for vocational education programs. The organization,
name, and function can be tailored to specific needs and situations.
The use and involvement of local committees knows only two (2) limitations:
They can assume neither legislative nor administrative responsibility.
An advisory committee does not automatically guarantee a successful
program nor will it follow that committees' function without problems
and conflicts. But a school and its representatives who are realistically
prepared and aware of what such a lay group can contribute, will draw
from the experience, that which is required to build and maintain
good, sound programs.
