Teacher's Role
The committee/partnership
chairperson should preside at meetings. However, teachers also have
important responsibilities to local advisory committees/partnerships
and, in particular, to occupational advisory committees. They should:
- Seek qualified persons knowledgeable
in the specific occupational advisory committee, and coordinate appointments
and invitations with the committee chairperson, local advisory committee
chairperson and the appropriate administrator.
- Welcome committee members, make introductions,
and help committee members realize that their participation is valuable.
- Explain the purpose of the occupational advisory
committee, outline areas where assistance is desired, and encourage
committee members to make decisions on the activities of the committee.
- Assist the committee in establishing a meeting
schedule, making arrangements for meetings, developing agendas, preparing
and mailing minutes, etc., and if desired, developing and adopting bylaws.
- Provide assistance and information to occupational
advisory committee members as needed.
