Office of School Safety and Learning Support

"Assisting Tennessee schools in their efforts to provide safe and supportive learning environments for all students"

Children in an afterschool program

Welcome to our Site!

The Office of School Safety and Learning Support was established to assist Tennessee schools in their efforts to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. A particular focus is placed upon fostering partnerships between schools and the communities they serve.

The Office coordinates training and program development activities related to school safety, afterschool programming and alternative education.  All training events and technical assistance is geared toward helping schools address the myriad of challenges facing today’s students that often serve as a barrier to learning.   The Office of School Safety and Learning Support also administers the following grant programs: 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Lottery for Education: Afterschool Programs (LEAPs), Safe Schools Act of 1998 and the Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act.

To learn more about our Office and current training events, click on the appropriate link of interest on the left navigation bar.  Please do not hesitate to call or email if you would like additional assistance.
