The computers that are refurbished are those surplussed from various State agencies and are subject to the laws, rules, and procedures pertaining to state surplus property. The Departments of Correction, Education and General Services administer The Refurbished Computer Program. The computers are donated to local education agencies.
All surplus desktop and laptop computers shall have at least a Pentium III class processor with a minimum processor speed of 500 MHZ. The minimum memory for each surplus computer shall be 128 MB of RAM. All computers shall have hard drives of various sizes that have been sanitized and ready for software installation. An official of the School System or School should write a letter on letterhead to the Commissioner of the Department of Education, Kevin Huffman or preferably e-mail to Gomer Pascual, gomer.pascual@tn.gov (615) 532-9514 and request the computers.

Requests that meet these minimum requirements will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. The allocation notification will be sent via fax or e-mail. A copy of the allocation notification must be presented at the warehouse for release of the computer lot(s). These computers must be picked up at the Department of General Services Property Utilization Division warehouse at 6500 Centennial Boulevard, Nashville, TN, 37243 (phone 615/350-3373) between 8:00a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
