Conservation Commission Members With Bios

Board Characteristics: Fifteen members appointed by the Governor for terms of three years. The Commissioner of Environment and Conservation shall be an ex officio member.

Steve ScarboroughCharles (Steve) Scarborough, Chair
Steve Scarborough is a lifelong paddler with expertise in most paddling disciplines. Steve also serves in a number of stewardship positions, including the Board of Conservation Fisheries that propagates and reintroduces threatened and endangered fish species.
Pete ClaussenPete Claussen, Vice Chair
Mr. Claussen is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Gulf and Ohio Railroad based out of Knoxville.
Michelle HaynesMichelle Haynes, Secretary
She has been a Real Estate Broker since 1975 and is the first woman Auctioneer in Tennessee. As an artist, one of her passions is the land. She serves the community on the Tennessee Conservation Commission, the Native Plant Society, the Tennessee Conservation Voters and the Sumner County Tax Equalization Board. Nature is her source of comfort, stimulus, adventure and delight.
Jim FykeJim Fyke, Commissioner
Commissioner Jim Fyke leads the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) as a strong advocate for Tennessee State Parks and environmental protection. He brings more than 40 years of successful public service to his role as head of the agency responsible for protecting and improving the quality of our state’s land, air, water and recreation resources.

Mr. Callery is a retired United States Federal Marshal and retired Department of Environment and Conservation Assistant Commissioner. He is also past president of the Rotary Club and Haywood County Chamber of Commerce.
Martha CooperMartha Cooper
Ms. Cooper is a homemaker and has worked with Friends Groups for Radnor Lake, Warner Parks and the Ladies Hermitage Association. She currently works with Nashville Greenways.

Mr. Ellison is a retired county commissioner. He serves on the West Madison Senior Citizen Board of Directors and West Madison Alumni Association.

Mr. Keast is the owner of Birdsong Resort and Marina plus the Tennessee Fresh Water Pearl Farm, Museum and Promotion Company.
Will MartinWilliam E. (Will) Martin
Will Martin is an international environmental lawyer and consultant, and he is also chairman of the board for the Marine Stewardship Council (London, England).
Dr. Chris MooreDr. Chris T. Moore
Dr. Moore is a physician and administrator. Professional associations include the American Medical Association and Wilderness Medical Association. He works with the Tennessee River Gorge Trust, the Nature Conservancy of Tennessee, Chattanooga Boys and Girls Club plus the East Tennessee Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Wimp ShoopmanWimp Shoopman
Mr. Shoopman is a Quality Evaluation Engineer for BWXT, LLC at the Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He was elected Mayor of Clinton in 2001 and is currently in his second term of office. Prior to being elected mayor, he served a total of 8 years on the Anderson County Board of Commissioners. In August 2005, Mayor Shoopman initiated the Mayor's Commission for Clinton's 21st Century.
