Water Quality Control Board
Board Characteristics: Ten members: seven appointed by the Governor for four-year terms and three ex officio. Members include:
• Commissioner of Environment and Conservation shall be
Chairman and an ex-officio member. In the Commissioner's absence, a chairman
shall be elected at each board meeting.
• Commissioner of Health
shall serve as ex-officio member;
• Commissioner of Agriculture
shall serve as ex-officio member;
• one representative from the public-at-large;
• one representative of agricultural interests appointed
from a list of persons nominated by the Tennessee Farm Bureau;
• one
representative of the municipalities of the state appointed from
a list of persons nominated by the Tennessee Municipal League;
• one
representative of industries appointed from a list of persons
nominated by the Tennessee Association of Business;
• one representative of small generators of water pollution appointed from a
list of persons nominated by the Tennessee Automotive Association;
• one
representative of environmental interests appointed from
a list of persons nominated by the Tennessee Conservation League;
• one representative of counties appointed from a list of
persons nominated by the Tennessee County Services Association.
