3. AIR QUALITY EDUCATION AND OUTREACH AND CLEAN AIR PARTNERSHIPS
AIRNOW is an EPA web site that gives daily information about ozone and how it may affect you. AIRNOW contains ozone maps; summertime ozone forecasts; ideas about what you can do to reduce ozone levels; links to state and local air quality programs; and publications and resources.
The Ozone Action Partnership for Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia offers business and industry in the region an opportunity to become an "Ozone Action Partner." By pledging to take voluntary actions to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides during the ozone season, the Partnership will recognize you as an Ozone Action Partner.
Clean Air Partnership of Middle Tennessee - The goal of the Partnership is to help people in Middle Tennessee improve their quality of life and the air through education, motivation, and communication. The business and government partners are working in the summer of 2004 to implement an air alert program for Middle Tennessee.
Regional Clean Air Coalition (11 Counties in East Tennessee, Knoxville Region) - On December 12, 2003, County Mayors from Anderson, Blount, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Roane, Sevier and Union Counties in Tennessee signed into and created the Regional Clean Air Coalition (RCAC), agreeing to coordinate efforts to improve air quality throughout the region. The RCAC consists of committees formed by representatives from government, business and industry, educational institutions and the general public throughout the multi-county Knoxville region collectively focused on creating, promoting and implementing strategies to improve air quality.
The Clean Air Campaign in the Atlanta region is a not-for-profit organization that works to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality through a variety of voluntary programs and services, including free employer assistance, public information and children's education. The Clean Air Campaign serves as a clearinghouse for a multitude of organizations that have programs in place to address traffic congestion and air pollution.
The Association of Central Oklahoma Governments' Clean Air Committee is a public/private air quality partnership. This web site provides information on air quality in that region and helpful tips on reducing air pollution.
It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air is a public education and partnership-building initiative of U.S. DOT's Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration, and EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality. It is designed to inform the public about the connection between their transportation choices, traffic congestion and air pollution.
Drive Clean Across Texas is the nation’s first statewide public outreach and public education campaign designed to boost awareness and change attitudes about air pollution and inspire changes in driving habits that will help clean up the air in Texas.
The Division of Air Quality, North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, has developed the North Carolina Air Awareness Program.
