City, County Get 940 Acres at VAAP Site

The Chattanooga Times - Chattanooga Free Press reported that Chattanooga and Hamilton County will pay $7.5 million for 940 acres of the former Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant (VAAP). According to the article the land will be used for commerciall and industrial development.

The article quoted Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson as saying, "This agreement is good news for Chattanooga as it promises to provide new economic opportunities for the community."

Tennessee Representative Zach Wamp was quoted as saying, " The future for this region looks bright for many reasons and one of the best is the Volunteer site opportunity."
