Cleanup Takes Time, Money

In one of a series of articles covering the Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant the Chattanooga Times - Chattanooga Free Press reported on the contamination discovered on the 940 acres of land that Chattanooga and Hamilton County would like to acquire from the Army for economic development activity. The article detailed the discussions that are taking place to resolve the problem as quickly as possible in order to keep the deal moving forward.

The article also detailed the innovative environmental remediation techniques that are being studied and applied at other sites with similar types of contamination. Officials from other former army ammunition plants were surveyed regarding the type of remediation strategies they are employing at their sites.
