CALLING JUNIOR RANGERS!
BURGESS FALLS OFFERS SUMMER OF FUN FOR RISING FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS

Sparta, Tenn. - Burgess Falls State Park will offer a day camp this summer for young people who will be entering the fifth grade for the 2006-2007 school year.

"The programs and activities we're planning will be so much fun I don't think our Junior Rangers will even realize how much they're learning along the way," said Bill Summers, park manager.

Topics will include Reptiles and Amphibians, Aquatics, Birds of Prey, Insects and Spiders, Ecology, and Introduction to Biological Research. Activities will include various hikes, so campers will need sturdy footwear for hiking and water shoes or old sneakers for wading in the river for creek studies. Campers will also need to bring daily water and snacks as well as sunscreen, a hat or cap and small backpack.

Three one-week camps will be offered in the month of June, and enrollment is limited to 12 pre-registered day campers each week. Day camp hours are 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. There is a $20 non-refundable camp fee per student that must be paid at least two weeks prior to attendance.

Campers may choose to attend one of the following camp sessions, but since enrollment is limited early registration is encouraged:

Camp 1: June 5-9, 2006
Camp 2: June 12-16, 2006
Camp 3: June 19-23, 2006

For more information or to request a registration packet, please call the park office at (931) 432-5312 or e-mail bill.summers@state.tn.us.
