For immediate release February 14, 2006 FALL CREEK FALLS STATE PARK OFFERING LESSONS WITH ARTISANS Pikeville, Tenn. - Fall Creek Falls State Park is offering two artisan weekends in March for participants interested in learning new crafts or refining existing skills. Over the weekend of March 17-19, artisans Jim and Nancy Phillips will teach participants the art of basket making. March 24-26, artisans Joyce Carroll and Kenny Farmer will lead a weekend program on woodcarving and wood burning. No prior experience is needed to take part in artisan weekend workshops. There are fees for each workshop to cover material costs and space is limited. The materials fee for the basket-making workshop is $25 per person, and space is limited to the first 20 people to register. The materials fee for the woodcarving and the wood burning workshops is $20 each. Space is limited to 12 people for woodcarving and seven people for wood burning, so make your reservations early. The Fall Creek Falls Inn will offer a special room package for the artisan weekends. The package includes lodging at the inn for two nights and breakfast for two people for $124.06 (tax included). Fall Creek Falls State Park has been voted by visitors to be one of the top family destinations in the Southeast. Protected within its boundaries are beautiful waterfalls, tremendous canyons and dense forest. The park has a 250-site campground, a hotel and conference center and 30 cabins. It is located 40 miles south of Cookeville, and 65 miles north of Chattanooga, atop the beautiful Cumberland Plateau.
