FROZEN HEAD STATE PARK TO HOST BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL ON MAY 24

EVENT WILL FEATURE LIVE PERFORMANCES, MANDOLIN LESSONS AND FAMILY FUN

Nashville, Tenn. – Frozen Head State Park near Wartburg will host the 2008 Echo in the Mountains Bluegrass Festival from noon to 7:30 p.m. May 24. The event will celebrate the region’s rich musical heritage with live performances, mandolin lessons and family fun.

“This is a wonderful time to enjoy the beauty of nature at Frozen Head,” said David Engebretson, park manager. “What a wonderful setting to enjoy great bluegrass music and time with family and friends! I’d encourage visitors to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an afternoon concert at the park.”

Roscoe Morgan will lead a mandolin workshop at 1:30 p.m. at the park’s visitor center. Performances will begin at 3 p.m., when Reliance takes the stage. Burchett, Morgan and 5ivespeed are scheduled to play from 4 to 5 p.m. Rough Edges Bluegrass Band will perform from 5 to 6 p.m., and the Cumberland Gap Connection will bring the festival to a close, playing from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
