DEC. 2009 - Bledsoe Creek Construction Update
The day-use area of park will reopen Tuesday, December 1, 2009. The campground area will reopen Spring 2010 following completion of an extensive renovation.
Hiking Trails Remain Open, Vehicle Access Restricted During Construction
Restricting vehicle access to the park allows the renovation project to move forward quickly while ensuring the public's safety. Hikers in the park are asked to remain on the designated trails and not walk on the roads during the renovation.
Campground Renovations Provide Needed Improvements
Designed in the late 1960s by the Corps of Engineers, the 55-site campground at Bledsoe Creek State Park primarily catered to tents and pop-up trailers. The updated design will include fifty-seven (57) level campsites, 65 feet in length and 25 feet wide, along with 50-amp electrical service, paved sites, new borders and fire rings, grills, lantern holders, picnic tables and campsites approved by the American Disabilities Act. The renovations also will include new water lines throughout the park, and all park roads will be paved. While we regret the inconvenience to our park visitors, the campground's renovation will allow better service in the future.
Boating
The park offers 2 boat launch ramps-one is located inside the
park for registered campers only-one is located just outside
the park on Ziegler's Fort Road for the general public.
