All of the Department of Environment and Conservation’s non-confidential files are open and available to the public for review between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at our Central office in Nashville, as well as each of our eight field offices across the state. It may be helpful to your search to call the appropriate Division in advance of coming to a particular TDEC office so personnel familiar with the filing system are available to assist you and have records ready for review. To assure prompt service and adequate time for file review, it is recommended appointments be made between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The file review/copy request form (CN-1077) includes records review and copy procedures, as well as any potential costs associated with copies.
The department is in the process of making more records available online for the convenience of our customers. Currently, you can find TDEC’s enforcement database, as well as water permits, on our Online Services Portal.
