2015-2025 Solid Waste and Materials Management Plan

As the work to develop Tennessee's 2015-2025 Solid Waste and Materials Management Plan continues, the Department of Environment and Conservation encourages stakeholders to keep up to date on the process.

Public Participation

Public participation activities for this planning process began in March with a series of four special focus meetings attended by approximately 100 stakeholders across the state representing schools, business and industry, local solid waste management departments, development districts, city and county governments, and environmental advocacy groups. Stakeholders were invited to share their ideas and priorities for the plan that will serve as a roadmap for the state's activities to reduce and manage solid waste in the future.

The presentation from the March meetings can be viewed here and a summary of the input received is available here.

In early May, a series of public input meetings - including four meetings and an interactive online webinar to encourage participation by stakeholders unable to attend the other meetings - focused on soliciting input regarding goals, policies, priorities and alternative strategies to manage recyclable materials.

The presentation from May's public input meetings can be viewed here and the webinar can be viewed here.
