The TYCC projects are no longer accepting applications for this summer. The online application has been removed but will be back next year to fill positions for the 2009 projects.
The Tennessee Youth Conservation Corps was proposed by Governor Phil Bredesen and approved by the Tennessee General Assembly in 2006. This initiative is designed to reflect the governor's vision of having a program that engages and equips young people with a hands-on conservation experience at Tennessee State Parks and Natural Areas.
The Tennessee Youth Conservation Corps. (TYCC) had a great first summer completing projects in State Parks and Natural Areas across the state. In 2007, we had 102 TYCC participants among 16 different Crews. The success of this first year is due to the hard work of each TYCC participant. I would also like to thank the staff at each State Park/Natural Area that trained and supervised the Crews. Also, thanks too many people within the Tennessee Dept. of Environment and Conservation that helped in the development and logistics of the TYCC Program throughout the year. Take a look at what was achieved!
The program promotes the principles of effective conservation by providing young people with a variety of natural resource management and restoration projects on state owned lands. Each State Park and Natural Area sponsoring a program project is responsible for recruiting, selecting, and employing the Tennessee Youth Conservation Corps participants that work at their site.

Young people across Tennessee will have the opportunity to learn new skills, appreciate the importance of conservation and earn a salary by doing meaningful work through the new Tennessee Youth Conservation Corps. The Department of Environment and Conservation will also benefit by having a number of significant resource management projects completed by inspired program participants.
