This is NOT the UST Facilities Without Certificates web page.
The Tennessee Division of Underground Storage Tanks maintains an electronic database with the name and address of each UST owner and facility in the state. The database contains information such as the name, address and ID # of each tank owner, facility information such as the facility name, address, type of facility (e.g., state owned, commercial, private), contact name, address and phone number, facility phone number, tank information such as the size of tank, tank contents, tank and piping construction, installation date, status (e.g., currently in use, out-of-service, temporarily-out-of-service) and information about upgrading, etc.
The database is available for download. See below for information on downloading the database.
Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Database
The Tennessee Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Database (updated March 2005) was created in Microsoft Access 97. It is a zipped file data table containing several fields of data in tabular format.
THE FILE IS IN MICROSOFT ACCESS 97 AND CAN BE READ USING ACCESS 2000, BUT CANNOT BE READ IF YOU HAVE A VERSION OF ACCESS MORE RECENT THAN ACCESS 2000. YOU MAY DOWNLOAD THE FILE BUT YOU WILL NEED A COPY OF ACCESS 97 OR ACCESS 2000 TO READ IT.
WE REGRET THAT THE DIVISION CANNOT CONVERT THIS DATABASE AND IS NOT STAFFED TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR YOU.
Clicking on the file will allow you to download it to your computer. Caution: It is a large file (2.9 MB) and may require some time to download depending on the speed of your internet connection. Once it is on your computer it will need to be unzipped (or extracted) for you to be able to view the tank information. When unzipped, the file will occupy approximately 19 MB of disc space so be sure your computer has sufficient space to accommodate it. For more information on downloading and unzipping files see http://www.state.tn.us/environment/download.php .
Once the file is unzipped it will appear as a file named UST Facility File.mdb. You should be able to open it or import it into a program capable of opening Microsoft Access 97database files. These files have a .mdb extension to the file name. The data table contains 47 fields of information. Each tank is identified with a unique facility number and tank number. Some fields will be numerical, others text, and still others "Yes/No" fields. Yes/No fields will be displayed as 0 (zero) =Yes and -1(minus 1) =No.
You may use Microsoft Access' query function to create, customize, and run your own queries on the data table. The table on the web page will be updated periodically and the date of the update listed on the web page. The date of the data file on your computer will be displayed in the column named 'Modified' in Windows Explorer. To update the file on your computer, simply download the file from the web page into the same directory as before. If prompted by your computer and asked if you wish to replace the existing file with the new file, select "Replace". Your old UST database will be overwritten by the new version. This operation will give you access to the most current information we have posted to the web page.
