On October 20, 2014, TDEC hosted a watershed event for the Stones River Watershed. This was the fourth event focusing on the Stones River watershed since we started implementing the watershed management approach in 1996. This meeting brought together many different agencies, groups, schools and citizens who live work and play in this watershed. Displays filled the dining hall at the Patterson Park Community Center in Murfreesboro and offered a great chance for hands on education for all ages.

The Stones River Watershed is located in Middle Tennessee and includes parts of Cannon, Davidson, Rutherford and Wilson Counties. The Stones River Watershed is approximately 921 square miles and drains to the Cumberland River.

Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation has also completed a 10-mile extension of the Stones River Greenway, a tree-shaded trail for walking/cycling. This paved path runs alongside beautiful woods and winds along the river.
