    The Division maintains lists of current public notices of permit applications, draft permits, public hearings, and rule-making activities. Public comment and participation are encouraged on all of these issues. Comments on any issue are welcome at any time and may be made by sending e-mail to ask.tdec@state.tn.us.


    Anyone wishing to be notified of public notices of permitting decisions, public hearings, and rule-making activities may request to be included on the Division's public notice mailing list.

    To be added to the public notice mailing list for NPDES and SOP - Municipal, Domestic and Industrial permits / Interbasin Water Transfer Notices send your complete contact information, including name, phone number, mailing address, and email address, to Elizabeth.Rorie@state.tn.us. Public notices are sent out twice per month.

    To be added to the public notice mailing list for ARAP / 401 Certifications / Reelfoot Lake Navigation permits send your complete contact information, including name, phone number, mailing address, and email address, to arap.program@state.tn.us.

    Permit appeals are heard by the Water Quality Control Board. To be added to the sunshine notice list for Water Quality Control Board meetings, send your email address to James.P.Cromer@state.tn.us. The sunshine notice is sent out at least monthly.


    May 13, 2008 - Public hearing to seek comments concerning an application for a state water quality permit for Cartwright Close, LLC.

    May 8, 2008 - Proposed TMDL for for Chlordane, Dioxins, and Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) in the Mississippi River Watershed.

    May 5, 2008 - Public hearing to seek comments concerning an application for a state water quality permit by Kodak Land Partners, LLC.

    April 17, 2008 - Public hearing in Caryville to receive public comments concerning the issuance of NPDES permits to Mountainside Coal Company.

    April 15, 2008 - Public hearing to seek comments concerning an application for a state water quality permit for the City of Columbia Wastewater Treatment System to construct a gravity sewer.

    March 10, 2008 - Public hearing on April 15, 2008 to receive comments concerning the proposed issuance of an NPDES Permit to TCB Farms LLC.

    February 28, 2008 - Public hearing on April 3, 2008 to receive comments concerning the proposed issuance of an NPDES Permit to Twin Calves Farm.

    • Public hearing on March 25, 2008 to receive comments regarding the proposed issuance of a State Operation Permit for Monroe County Schools and Rural Vale School.
    • Public Hearing on March 27, 2008 to seek public comments regarding the issuance of a water quality discharge permit to Monteagle.

    January 18, 2008 - The Department announces the availability of the 2008 draft 303(d) list for public review and comment.

    January 7, 2008 - Proposed TMDL for Low Dissolved Oxygen and Nutrients for the Stones River Watershed.

    December 21, 2007 - Public hearing in Rosemark to receive public comments concerning the issuance of an NPDES permit to Memphis Stone and Gravel Company.

    December 19, 2007 - Public meeting in Spring City for General Shale Brick, Inc. regarding the proposed new discharge of treated mine wastewater and storm water to high quality water.

    December 12, 2007 - Public Hearing to seek comments concerning an application for a permit by Dr. Lee Hunter to construct an earthen dam.

    December 4, 2007 - Public Hearing Notice for Eagle Ridge Investments

    November 30, 2007 - Public rulemaking hearing before WPC, acting on behalf of the State Oil and Gas Board, to consider the adoption and promulgation of rules.

    October 23, 2007 - Public hearing regarding the proposal from Columbia Power and Water Systems to withdraw water from the Duck River for a public water supply.

    • Public hearing regarding the proposal from Milky Way Farms of Tennessee to modify and restore of a portion of unnamed tributaries to Richland Creek and Whitaker Branch in Giles County.

    • Public hearing regarding a proposal by the Carroll County Watershed Authority to construct a recreational lake that will impact a wetland, creek and unnamed tributaries.

    • Public hearing to receive comments concerning the reissuance of a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit to Mr. Ken Hodak, National Coal Corporation, Jordan Ridge Refuse Area.
