ELK RIVER (LOWER) WATERSHED

LOWER ELK RIVER WATERSHED

Located along the Alabama border, the Lower Elk River watershed includes parts of Franklin, Lawrence and Lincoln Counties in Tennessee and drains 236 miles before flowing into Alabama. Upper elevations contain many beautiful streams flowing toward the Alabama border to the Elk River. Swine and dairy farms dot the landscape, and the area’s rich timber supply supports lumber mills as a basic industry.
