The Road Ahead

Change is seldom easy, particularly with a change of this magnitude. Agency personnel have already invested a great deal of time and effort during the early stages of the implementation process, and more work lies ahead. It will take time to train employees, time to adjust to new business processes, and time to learn to take full advantage of the features that Edison offers. Some studies have indicated, in fact, that worker productivity can actually decrease for a brief period following an implementation. What these studies also show, however, is that after employees master the new system, their work surpasses what they could accomplish using the old technology and business processes. Given better tools, they produce better results. Working together, we have a unique opportunity to significantly improve the way the State of Tennessee does business and serves its citizens.
