Wellness Success Stories

Since my last weigh in about 4 weeks ago I lost 4 pounds. My secret is the well-know secret of eating smaller portions and eating about 4-6 times a day so the stomach will shrink.  Never hurts to drink plenty of fluids like water.  I am very happy over my loss.  So far I have lost about 40 pounds this year and feel a lot better. Thanks Wellness Program.

I have always had a problem with sugar addiction. The Working Well program has helped me by the weekly tips I receive as to how to incorporate healthy habits into my lifestyle. I am now eating healthy fruits instead of sugary sweets and taking one day at a time. I get these emails during the day and it reminds me to stay on track. I have lost 15 pounds so far and expect to lose more by eating healthy and taking the challenge to ”Maintain don’t Gain” during the holidays. Thanks.

I lost 3lbs during the week of Thanksgiving. I just made myself drink my eight glasses of water everyday that week. I usually forget to do that. Drinking all my water helped me not snack because I wasn’t hungry. I also worked out every day that week, not just Monday, Wednesday Friday. I ate a little of everything so I didn't feel like I was being left out of the holiday and I stopped eating when I was satisfied, well before I needed to unbutton my pants!

I joined Wellness 360 (an online wellness program) in September. Since I joined the program, I have lost about 10 pounds, have started a daily exercise routine AND have quit smoking!!  I am extremely happy with the 360 site. I log in daily and update my food intake and my exercise schedule faithfully!

I want to thank you for all your support and what you do in helping to keep us motivated in choosing good health. Diana is a local office Interviewer with the Dept. of Labor & Workforce Development at the Kingsport Career Center. Diana had open heart surgery in December last year, Diana walks on her treadmill daily and watches what she eats. With the support of my co-workers, I joined the local weight watchers program in Kingsport and have lost 48 lbs. and walk about 4 1/2 miles a day. Due to the weight loss and exercise I been able to reduce the amount of medication I take for my diabetes. My goal with continued weight loss is come off the medication all together. You know a picture is worth 1000 words. Both Diana & I participated in the Eastman Road Race (walk) and finished with a personal best, (we finished). All proceeds went to the United Way and we had a lot of fun in the process. We want to challenge all employees to become pro-active in choosing good health. Get your co-workers involved it is never to late to start!

I was told by my Dr. that if I didn't get moving and lose some weight I was going to have to start taking medicine for diabetes. I lost my dad to diabetes 2 years ago so this scared me and I got moving. In the last year I have lost 60 lbs and several pant sizes. Thank you for all of your positive encouragement it really helped.

I have lost 5 lbs. More importantly, I have kept it off, which was a problem in the past. The health screening was my first clue that I needed to lose weigh. The health coach told me that I was 10 lbs overweight. I have at least 5 more lbs to go.

I participated in the 2007 Peel the Pounds program and lost 13% of my total body weight. I was also following the Weight Watchers diet and exercising with a group of co-workers during lunch. I am no longer "counting" Weight Watchers points, but I have continued exercising and have maintained my healthy eating habits. I'm proud to say that I have not gained any of the weight back! The Peel the Pounds program was very helpful in keeping me on track. We had a good group and we all worked to encourage each other.

We started a biggest loser club in our office April of this year. I have lost 22 pounds and 4 dress sizes. The best news over all is my blood pressure is 120/80. My doctor is happy and I am feeling great.
