TENNCARE DRUG FRAUD ARREST: FIFTH IN CLAY COUNTY
FIVE ARRESTS IN FIVE WEEKS
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Clay County woman is charged today with
TennCare drug fraud, marking the fifth such arrest in Clay County
within a five-week period. The Office of the Inspector General (OIG)
announced the arrest of Beverly
Brown, 37, of Celina, charges with unlawfully selling a portion
of oxycontin, a prescription painkiller that was paid for by TennCare.
The charge against Brown is a Class E felony, punishable by up four
years in prison. Ms. Brown is being held without bond and is currently
incarcerated in the Jackson County jail on an unrelated matter. Clay
County District Attorney Bill Gibson is prosecuting.
Last month, OIG arrested four other individuals in Clay County for
selling their TennCare drugs: Rhonda Box, 42; Joe Carmack, 35; Joseph
E. Carmack, 55; Siddie Scott, 59, all of Celina.
“We are continuing to work closely with the Clay County Sheriff’s
Office and District Attorney Bill Gibson’s office in prosecuting
the illegal trafficking of TennCare prescription medications,”
Inspector General Deborah Faulkner said.
