FRANKLIN COUNTY WOMAN CHARGED WITH TENNCARE FRAUD
TENNCARE BILLED FOR FORGED PRESCRIPTIONS
NASHVILLE – A Franklin County woman has been charged with TennCare
fraud for using a forged prescription to get drugs – and using
her TennCare card to pay for it.
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Decherd Police Department
today announced the arrest 22-year-old Stephanie
Partin of Winchester, Tennessee. A two-count indictment issued
in Franklin County charges Partin with fraudulently obtaining TennCare
benefits by presenting a forged prescription to a local pharmacy and
having TennCare billed for the drugs. Partin was also charged with
a felony count of attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraud.
“We’re working with local law enforcement agencies in
a number of counties, as they are often the first to encounter a person
who has committed or a situation that includes TennCare fraud,”
Inspector General Deborah Faulkner said. “We’ve reached
out to local police as well as pharmacists and other providers to
make sure they know what to do when they suspect TennCare fraud.”
The TennCare fraud charge against Partin is a Class E felony, punishable
by up to two years in prison. Bond was set at $ 5,000. Franklin County
District Attorney Michael Taylor is prosecuting.
Anyone can report suspected TennCare fraud by calling 1-800-433-3982
toll-free from anywhere in Tennessee, or log on to www.tennessee.gov/tenncare
